Clandon C of E School A caring community where all can THRIVE

    SEND

Clandon School is an inclusive and nurturing learning community where the achievement, attitude and wellbeing of every child matters.  We aim to ensure that all pupils, including those with SEND, achieve their aspirations and we work hard to ensure that they can access all aspects of the curriculum to give them the best possible start in life.

As a school within the Newlands Federation, Clandon School welcomes all pupils, and every child is valued regardless of their starting points.

The term “Special Educational Needs” refers to children who experience barriers to learning under the categories of Cognition and Learning; Social, Emotional and Mental Health; Sensory and Physical; Communication and Interaction and may require additional support.

The school has a dedicated, highly experienced non-class based Senior Leadership Team made up of our Executive Headteacher, our Heads of School, our School Business Manager and our qualified and knowledgeable Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO); together we ensure that the needs of all pupils are being met through high quality teaching in the classroom, additional intervention and specialist support.  Leaders work closely with Surrey County Council and the NHS to access support from (for example) link Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Special Teachers for Inclusive Practice, Mental Health teams and more.

Cathy Hollis is the Federation SENCO working across Shere and Clandon Schools.  You can contact her by email, chollis@shere.surrey.sch.uk, or through the school office, info@clandon.surrey.sch.uk.

At the Newlands Federation we are supported by Surrey County Council to ensure that all pupils can progress well and meet their full potential.  This support enables us to be as inclusive as possible and to aim to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities in our mainstream setting.

Please read our Information Report and SEND policy and gain further detailed information about provision available for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and Shere Infant School and Clandon Primary School.  Click here to access the Surrey Local Offer.
